University Residential workshop was very useful to students
“Do not abuse your room mates by sleeping with girls/boys in front of them”
Students from all residences in the campus were able to interact with different stakeholders of the university for the first time ever. The department of housing hosted a seven days workshop at MBL Dining Hall, in order to introduce students to the university lifestyle and services. The workshops started last on the 25th February and it ended on the 5th March. The workshops attended by university stakeholders from Security, Housing, Health, Academic Development and Student SRC and the office of the Student Affairs. Mr. Moselekwa the director of Housing and his assistance Mrs. Lemekwane were there to also facilitate the programme. The main role of the workshop was to introduce residential Policy guide line to students.
After every presentation students managed to ask questions and clarities, and also make suggestions were applicable. They complained about their residence because there is no running hot water. Some they complained about the issue of security at the entrance of their residence, ladies said they are treated unfairly because they are not allowed to enter their residence with more than one male classmate, because they are only allowed to get in with one male friend. “What should we do when we want to do a group work in our rooms” said one of the students at MBK.
The director of housing Mr. Moselekwa encouraged students to cooperate in the residence in order for them to be there for a long time. “ I do not want to meet you at the hearing, I love you and I care enough for you, you are my children” said Moselekwa. He also asked students not to abuse their room mates by coming sleeping with girlfriends/boyfriends in the room while the roommate is there. “Last week we called the parents of a student who slept with a girlfriend in the room while the roommates is watching, his parents were shocked and I do not want to see you doing the same” he continued.
The workshops were very successful because more that two hundreds students managed to attend daily.
