Adaptation to a University life

A life at university is a totally different life when comparing to all lifestyles, because people who attend a tertiary education are from different lifestyle background, and they are from different countries, provinces and villages. Every one of them had a type of life he/she was living at her/his place. When all type of life styles and backgrounds meet a one complex type of life style is formed and it is called a Tertiary Life Style. Although all students will end up enjoying this type of life style, there are few steps that the first entering students should follow to adapt quickly this unique life style.

01. Make Sure that you apply for university admission early

New students should apply early to high institutions to avoid last minutes rush and disappointments. After admitted and registered, make sure that you collect all documents needed e.g. Student Card, Cafeteria Smart Card and Library Card.

02. Find a mentor

Make sure that you find a mentor as soon as you finish the process of registrations and accessing all documents needed. A mentor is somebody who will mentor you through everything that involves the academic work at a university. This person is also responsible to clarify you with everything that concern the academic work.

03. What about finding a friend?

Being alone is something that will make you adapt to the university life style after long time, without a friend you will be lonely, stay in your room, go to library, go to lecture rooms and sleep, which is not healthy. Get a friend that you will talk with, go around with and go for shopping with. In most universities all first entering students are occupying only double rooms where by they have room mates, this was meant to make sure that every one have a friend or someone to make her/him busy.

04. Know your University

With the help of your friend you will not be afraid of going around the university, checking all services that are offered for students e.g. Health, Counseling, Arts and et cetera. This is to make sure that you are familiar with all buildings around the campus, some universities are big enough whereby you may not be able to know all sides, but it is advisable for you to know it.

05. What about your resource places

Library, Computer Laboratory, Photocopying Room and others. Make sure that you visit them very often because it is your resource room, your books and computers are there. You may also go there for refreshment, read novels and surf the net.

06. Any Events to attend?

Check around the campus, is there any notices talking about events? Have a look and make sure that you check many of them very often. Attending events can help you and your mind, this one is regarded as refreshment. Be aware of being a party animal! Do not be one.
