On weekend there were unconfirmed disturbing rumors around the campus that students had an accident on their way to a funeral in Mpumalanga. Students came in numbers to lay to rest one of their classmate and a media student Nkosinathi Lucky Mhlongo. Mhlongo died last week on Thursday, he was on his way with other students from student march in Pretoria, were they handed over a memorandum of concerns to the education minister Naledi Pandor. It is alleged that his death came after an argument over revolutionary songs. It is believed that his body was thrown out of a moving taxi on the way towards the campus.

Three students who are arrested in conjunction with the incident are Tabane Serumula, George Tswai and Raymond Mabelebele. They appeared in Mankweng magistrate court last week Monday and charged with murder case, and the case was adjourned to March 3, 2008. Students will again embark on a march to Magistrate to validate the reason of the perpetrators of not to be given bail.
