President Thabo Mbeki said on weekend to the reporters that the Zimbabwe’s election standoff is not a crisis and its electoral commission must be given time to release the results of a presidential poll held two weeks ago.
I do not believe what President Thabo Mbeki has just said on weekend, how can he say the Zimbabwe’s standoff election is not a crisis? How can people wait for election results for weeks? That is something that worries me about Mbeki, I am not sure how far is too far he is going with his friendship with Mugabe.
After Mbeki held an long meeting with president Mugabe, on his way to Zambia to discuss the crises of elections in Zimbabwe he told reporters that he wouldn’t describe that as a crisis. He said It is a normal electoral process in Zimbabwe. “We have to wait for ZEC to release the results,” Mbeki told reporters after the meeting” he added.
It is not really sure of what they were discussing for that hour long, but I assume the issue of not going to attend a summit in Lusaka came out. That is why Mugabe ended up telling journalists after the meeting that, he is not going to the summit, but is best friend and brother Mbeki is going. “Sometimes you attend and sometimes you have other things holding you back” said Mugabe.
On Thursday the opposition leader in Zimbabwe Tsvangarai met with Mbeki concerning the crime but northing was revealed about their discussion, it is believed they never got any agreement, which is why he further more went to other African continents to look for help.
