Students affected by tragedy death of three students receives counseling

“This is a difficult time for the university community and students in particular, it is a very painful situation to the friends and parents of the diseased” these were the exact words from Dr. Msimeki a psychologist at University of Limpopo turf loop campus. He was speaking at a counseling session where students who are victims and those affected by the bus accident which killed three students received professional counseling.

Three students where two are the students of University of Limpopo and one student from University of Venda died on a bus crash on their way from a funeral in Giyane last Saturday around 11 am. Students were from funeral where they buried one of the African National Congress Youth League member in Giyane region. This member of ANCYL was a student at University of Limpopo in 2007 and he died after car accident while studying at University of South Africa at Polokwane campus.

“Students should make sure that they support and strengthen the family and friends of student who just past away, they should heal themselves as soon as possible so that to avoid being chief mourners at the funeral” said Dr. Msimeki when continuing with the counseling. Students who are the victims of the accidents and those who are just affected by the death and accidents expressed their selves that it is very difficult for them and it will take time for them to forget what happened.

Dr Msimeki also encouraged students to accept and cope with the issue so that they can continue with their exams because they are now in the middle of the exams. “Let us learn to accept and cope so that we can go on with our life, we know that it is not simple but it self is a battle that one need to survive in order to go no and on” Said Dr. Msimeki.

The driver of a bus which was involved in a crash appeared in a local magistrate court in Giyane in charges of driving restlessly and driving a bus that was not road worthy.
